Tell Us Your Story

Hi there Benée and staff,

Hope you are all having a great day! Just wanted to thank you for making my engagement ring for Dave. You did an amazing job and the piece was more than I ever hoped for. You truly are an artist. Dave mentioned that you wanted the story of how he proposed, so here it goes...

Dave and I have been together for about three years now and we have learned a lot about each other, which has brought us so much closer and stronger as time goes on. One of my favorite attributes of Dave's is that he is a hopeless romantic. He loves to surprise me and continues to exceed my expectations in a man. I guess it was a couple of months back he started asking what I like in an engagement ring. I am not the type to put a picture of a ring on the fridge and make it known that I would be totally disappointed if I did not get that exact ring. So after a lot of questions, I decided it was best to just find a picture of a style I liked and e-mail it to him so he had an idea. I never thought that he would take that information and have a ring handcrafted specifically for me.

I guess Dave needed to know my ring size in order to take the next step and I was a little curious when we walked into a Michael's Jewelers just to find out my exact size. So I thought maybe it was just for future reference. I figured, seeing as we had a trip to Maui coming up, that we were in no financial situation to be buying an engagement ring. As time passed and our trip was getting closer, I could tell there was something up with Dave because every now and then he would make mention of how we would need to use money from the "ring fund" for the trip (this is his way of throwing me off). In the days previous to departure for Maui, Dave had been hanging out with his buddy Chris and doing a lot of "errands," which kind of piqued my interest because they were hanging out far more than usual, but I never really questioned it because I totally trust him.

We departed for Maui and the flight went smoothly. We arrived late, so we checked into our beautiful and secluded studio cottage. When we woke the next morning in beautiful Kihei, we enjoyed each other's company over some coffee and pineapple, and decided to just get the Jeep and drive to wherever the road takes us. We brought along a backpack for day trips and I guess Dave hid the ring in the backpack. So as I was packing some things for the day, I went to put the sunscreen in the back pack and noticed the ring box. So I quickly closed the backpack and pretended I did not find it. I was so excited and nervous for some reason, but played it cool as I knew what was about to happen. Dave is such a sweetheart, as he always wants to surprise me. However, he never really gets to because he is not very good at hiding things. So we packed up and hopped in the Jeep and started cruising the Island.

At some point we decided to head upcountry and ended up driving to the Tedeschi Winery, where we tasted some wines and then went to the deli for some burgers. After lunch, we decided to wander through the gardens at the winery. We had come to what looked like an overgrown fountain. Dave asked me to get a closer look to see if it actually was a fountain at one point in time. When I turned around, my man was on one knee with this stunning engagement ring and he asked "Jennifer Luiza Fearing, will you marry me." I replied, "Baby, of course I will, Amigos Forever." I got down on my knees with him and we held each other for a moment. Dave wiped the tears of joy from my face and proceeded to put the ring on my finger.

Once we got our composure, we decided to head back down to the beach and I could not take my eyes off this beautiful ring you handcrafted. I love my ring. And even though the engagement wasn't a total surprise, Dave did manage to surprise me by having you handcraft a ring far more beautiful than what I ever could have hoped for. I love my man and I love my ring. I am so proud to show off your work. You and your staff are the best Benée.

Thank you again,
Jennifer & Dave
