Jewelry In Space Aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour

Apollo 13, you will see the mission control console room. To the left of the flight director, in the back, is the EVA seat where Adele and her team members sit during missions.) The astronauts each have a "personal items" box where they can take a handful of items up with them. She also sits in the console room, which you see in the movies. (If you rent

So, since she works with the astronauts, they offered several of their trainers the opportunity to take an item for them in their "personal items" box. Last time we flew something on the shuttle, the astronaut was able to take a picture of it with the earth in the background, but I don't know if they will be able to do that this time. Tthe rules are different in certain flights. So if that happens, we will certainly send you the picture as well.

But in any case, when we get the necklace back it will come with a certificate signed by the astronaut crew which states the name of the mission, the duration of the flight, what the crew did while in space, and some other information (like distance traveled, etc). The certificate will say something along the lines of 'this document certifies that this mandala necklace was flown above the space shuttle during the STS-126 mission.' (I'm not sure what the exact wording will be since the astronauts write that up after the mission.) It will have the NASA seal and astronauts' signature on it.

Once they return to Earth, everything on the shuttle must go through processing, so it usually takes 2-3 months after the shuttle lands before we get it back with the certificate. We had an item flown before and have a picture of it and the certificate framed in our house, but I remember it took about 6 weeks for us to get it all back. So as soon as we get the certificate, we will scan it and send it to you.

Be sure to watch the launch on TV so you can tell everyone your necklace is going up!
